01 — STUDY INTRODUCTION

More than a smaller position error

DFMC combines more than one protected frequency with more than one approved constellation. Its operational purpose is improved resilience, ionospheric observability, satellite geometry, integrity support and continuity—not a simplistic doubling of accuracy.

Dual-frequency observations allow much of the first-order ionospheric delay to be estimated directly. Multiple constellations can add valid ranging sources, but certification, receiver standard and regional implementation still determine usable capability.

02 — STUDY INTRODUCTION

Think in capability states

The flight deck should interpret the system as full service, degraded service, reduced precision or independent reversion. Satellite count alone does not define authorization.

Accuracy, integrity, continuity and availability remain distinct properties. A lower protection level may improve availability, but it does not automatically authorize lower minima or a new approach category.
